Downey dermatological team equipped with injectable fillers as safe, effective anti-aging tool

We can all do many things to maintain a youthful appearance. We can quit smoking today (or never start). We can wear our sunscreen religiously, even on the overcast days. We can stay properly hydrated from the inside out, drinking plenty of water and moisturizing, moisturizing, moisturizing!

Yet, even with all our interventions, we cannot outrace Father Time. That doesn't mean it's time to throw in the towel. It's just the way we intervene to attain that youthful look evolves. Dr. Douglas Blose wants to partner with you to minimize the effects of aging on your skin.

Those effects may include:
  • Leathery texture
  • Growths, such as precancerous actinic keratoses
  • Lax, droopy skin
  • Thinning, fragility
  • Fat loss, especially in cheeks, temples, eyes, nose
  • Darker, larger areas of hyperpigmentation
Dr. Blose and his team can address many of the problems mentioned above with anti-aging injectable fillers in Downey. While there are several different types of dermal fillers on the market, he and his team use the preferred option: Juvéderm.

This product is made from hyaluronic acid (HA). This substance is naturally found in your eyes and joints, so there isn't the fear of toxicity or concerns about how the HA-based filler may react with existing tissues. That fear does exist with some other types of fillers, including collagen extracted from cows. Juvéderm side effects might be limited to the typical after-effects of most cosmetic treatments, such as redness, swelling, and bruising at injection site.

You don't have to go through all the pain and the risks of the many other fillers, upwards of 160, on the market today. In the case of Juvéderm, results can last up to a year. Some of the factors influencing the longevity of your results include how well you adhere to follow-up treatment and touch-up sessions. These maintenance sessions may only require about half the amount of material used in earlier injections.

It should also be said that Juvéderm isn't one filler. It's a family of fillers. Dr. Blose may inject the "XC" version to smooth out moderate to severe lines along the sides of your nose and mouth. Its sister filler, "Voluma XC," corrects age-related loss of volume in the cheek area. You can expect to see a more contoured and lifted face for up to 24 months with "optimal treatment."

While not a filler, Botox is another injectable that may be used to treat the lines around the eyes and between the eyebrows. Still other treatments, too, may address age-related concerns outside of volume loss, creases, furrows, and lines. Treatments such as chemical peels have dual purposes and may smooth creases while fading freckles and age spots.
